The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain
The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain has been entertaining and enthralling audiences since 1985. It all began when Kitty Lux and George Hinchliffe started fooling around with their ukes. They were soon joined by friends .. and before they knew it, they had an orchestra.
Even way back then, they realized they were on to something special when their very first gig was quickly sold out and enthusiastically praised by all. Now, still together after all these years, they are a household name and regarded as a national institution in Britain.
Their sellout concerts have taken them all over the world, including places like New Zealand, Japan, Sweden, Germany, Poland, USA, France, Finland, Canada .. and of course, all over Great Britain.
The latest great resurgence in popularity of the humble ukulele (or the "bonsai guitar" as they call it) is largely attributed to the enthusiastic concerts and promotions of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.
The current members of the Orchestra are: Richie Williams, Dave Suich, Peter Brooke Turner, Hester Goodman, Will Grove-White, Jonty Bankes, George Hinchliffe and Kitty Lux.
All of the performers pitch in and sing, whistle, strum, pluck and tap as required. The concerts are usually very funny and exciting - with lots of virtuoso playing, wit and foot-stomping audience participation.

This Ukulele Orchestra is really great, as we can see they are really professionals and very entertaining. I had an opportunity to see them at Cambridge Folk Festival that itself is a really amazing – camping experience. See you there next year folks!
